Sustainability
The increase in seafood products demand is going to generate more by-products.
Among the interesting benefits derived from the use of fishery and aquaculture by-products, the possibility to reduce waste and to increase the recovery of precious nutrients for animals is of high value. The development of new technologies, in the perspective of the circular economy, can help to reduce waste production throughout the production chain.
The possibility to extract bioactive peptides is promising, adding great value to this under-used waste and contributing to solve today's problems such as antibiotic and fishmeal replacements in animal feed.
Seafood By-products
MBI focuses mainly on the processing of fresh shrimp heads and to a lesser extent to some selected fish by-products (Sardine, Mackerel, and Tuna).
Our supply is fully traceable and sustainable as we only use by-products from non-endangered species coming from the seafood industry.
Circular Economy
Locally collected seafood waste --> factory (bioprocess) --> natural health functional ingredient to support local aquaculture sector
